FUND RAISING ACTIVITY

PASTIE SALES

Pastie sales are held twice a year. They are prepared from scratch at the Burt Township School kitchen. The entire congregation turns out for this project. Most people have done the same task for years. Leo prepares the dough. Sue rolls the dough and cuts the shape. Kathy mixes meat, potatoes and rutabages. Bill places the meat vegetable mix and the ladies crimp the edges. The pasties go into the oven for baking. After about an hour they are ready for sale and pickup. The unsold pasties are frozen and sold throughout the year.

4TH OF JULY PIE SALE

A traditional fund raiser is the pie sale held on the fourth after the parade. People line up at the church before and during the parade to be among the first to select the homemade pies baked fresh for the sale. Approximately 100 pies are sold. In addition brats and drinks are sold to the people waiting for the pie sale to begin. All the pies are usually sold within 15 - 20 min.

LABOR DAY BAKE SALE

Held on the Saturday before Labor Day. Goodies of all sorts - pies, breads, cookies, cinnamon rolls. All homemade - fresh and delightful.

MEMORIAL DAY BAKE SALE

Just like our Labor Day Sale. - Same wonderful enticing goodies.

HISTORICAL DAYS LUNCH

In early Aug we invite you to Grand Marais to learn about our heritage. Activities are planned so that you can learn about the area's history. Our church provides a lunch at the community center open to visitors and the community.

SONGWRITERS SHOWCASE LUNCH

Food available all day at the community center. This year, for the first annual Songwriters Showcase, we kept the food available all day for participants and guests. Homemade cinnamon buns and coffee or hot chocolate in the morning; sandwiches, chips and fruit at noon; and brats for dinner. It's impossible to go hungry this day.

SPAGHETTI DINNER

All you can eat spaghetti with three different sauces, Italian salad and garlic bread. This has been a real success both in the community and the congregation.
